Students Today Aren't Ready for Sex
295,000 OREGON KIDS ARE STARS

STARS has made enormous strides since its creation in 1995. Thanks to our many partners, 295,000 Oregon middle school students have participated in our program in 33 of 36 counties, with the help of almost 12,000 teen leaders.

But we are not done. Our long-term goal is to make STARS an integral and permanent part of Oregon’s middle-school curriculum. We will continue to work closely with educational leaders at both the state and local level to make this goal a reality. Ambitious, perhaps, but possible? Absolutely! We know how to reach for the stars.

We hope you will join us in supporting this phenomenal program as we work successfully to decrease Oregon teen pregnancy rates.

STARS TEACHES YOUNG PEOPLE LIFE SKILLS.
By becoming better educated about the risks of sexual involvement, middle-school children have a reason to choose abstinence. Through the STARS curriculum, they gain skills that support them in saying “no” to sex, as well as other high-risk activities like alcohol, tobacco and drug use.
